Dear Pastor and Church Leadership:

The next MCC Conference for People of African Descent (PAD), Friends and Advocates is coming to St Louis, Missouri, August 3-5, 2017, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. MCC of Greater St. Louis is the host church.

Since 1998, the PAD Conference has been a dynamic gathering of lay and clergy people from across the United States and often includes people from Canada, the Caribbean, England, and South Africa.  Each conference is dedicated to achieving an important mission: To equip and empower all of us for ministry within a racially-diverse, mutually-respectful community of faith in ways that honor the gifts, skills, experiences, and lives of people of African descent.
The 2017 PAD Conference theme is “Grounded in Love,” reflecting MCC’s commitment to stand firmly upon the foundation of God’s Love, a love that compels us to live with a holy boldness that honors who we are and where we have come from, and that also frees us to consider how God is calling us to go deeper still.

The PAD Conference is for everyone. People of African descent, families, friends, advocates, and loved ones are ALL welcome to attend the Conference.  The PAD Conference is a joyous celebration of the rich diversity and powerful testimony of what God is doing right now through the many people of African descent, friends, and advocates to transform every part of our lives and communities of faith. Those who attend leave the PAD Conference renewed and empowered!
The 2017 “Grounded in Love” PAD Conference offers powerful worship, connecting fellowship, and meaningful programming. We want you to join us in supporting this critically important opportunity for the people of our churches and communities.

2017 “Grounded in Love” PAD Conference topics include:
  • What it means to be diverse and inclusive
  • Justice ministry and activism
  • Clergy and lay leadership development
  • Issues concerning PAD gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities
  • Health and wholeness
  • Spirituality and sexuality

Attendees will receive tools and information needed to return to their churches and communities to fully live into MCC’s values. MCC clergy who register to attend can receive 9 CEUs.

What can your church do?

Thank you so much for all you will do to support the PAD Conference. It is churches like yours that can help make this event a life-changing opportunity for people of African descent within MCC, families, and allies. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and to share more about how this Conference has made such a positive difference in the lives of so many and in the ministry of MCC.
Peace,

Rev. Elder Darlene Garner, PAD Conference Convener
Rev. Elder Rachelle Brown, Interim Moderator
