Job Title: Programming and Volunteer Development Director

Status: Full-time

Salary: $38,000.00 per annum plus benefits

Department: Pastoral Staff

Reports To: Senior Pastor                                           

Date of Employment: Mid-September to early October, with flexibility for the right candidate

SUMMARY: Our Programming and Volunteer Development Director will play a key role in helping us further develop our community’s programming, structures, leadership training and culture of collaboration.  This is a great opportunity for someone who is gifted in mentoring leaders and has an excellent understanding of church systems, size congruence, strategic planning and larger church community.   If you have a heart for empowering people, a creative spirit and the programming, pastoral and managerial skills to equip a dynamic community to ‘be MCC’, we would love to hear from you. This is an ideal position for Clergy or Lay applicants with the vocational calling and training to grow communities spiritually and release missional vitality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage our transition to a Program-size structure; Programming Launch Group convener and strategy mentor; Schedule and communicate program offerings; Support ministry collaboratives; Leadership mentoring, training and support; Children and Youth Education Liaison; Younger member engagement and empowerment; Create systems for volunteer development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years of professional ministry experience in a Program- or Corporate-size church – Required
  • Excellent administrator and communicator – Required
  • Professional experience in leadership training and team building (ie. church, corporate or not-for-profit) – Required
  • Proficient in spiritual education and curriculum development – Required
  • Ability to plan strategically and develop systems – Required
  • Professional pastoral care training- Desired
  • Working knowledge of Internet and A/V technologies – Desired
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and manage volunteers – Desired
  • Conflict transformation training – Desired

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience; M. Div. preferred

EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years of professional ministry experience. May include internship.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Driver’s License and Car

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Flexible schedule as required, primarily Sun-Thurs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  MCCGSL is a not-for-profit, inclusive faith organization and 501(c)3 organization with a mission for social engagement, human rights advocacy and spiritual development. We have a membership of 330 and network with a much larger community. We affirm and embrace people of all sexual orientations, genders, abilities, and cultures. We have a large, multi-purpose building and parking lot on South Broadway in Soulard, St. Louis. WiFi is available. Non-smoking. You will have free off-street parking, secure building entrance and comprehensive security system, and secure office space with necessary computer equipment and software provided. We currently employ three full-time and four part- time staff members.
